In romantic relationships the sweet nothings fly like kites in the wind. Every word your lover says to you is translated by you, into something that means love, desire, and devotion. But is that what he is really saying, or are you just hearing what you want to hear?
The saying “flattery will get you nowhere”, is almost sarcastic, because we all know that a good sincere sounding bit of flattery will get almost anybody, anywhere, and fast. Women love to hear how great they are, we eat it up. Enough cannot be said to us when it comes to calling attention to our great sexy selves. Some men know this fun fact about women and use it to their full advantage, sometimes they don’t even really have to be saying something good, but a woman will still hear it that way.
Believing that everything your boyfriend or husband says to you is all about him, expressing his love and adoration for you seems pretty harmless, unless what they are telling you is really the complete opposite. Most men do not like to say much around their women for fear of saying the wrong thing, in the wrong way, at the wrong time. If a man really wants to impress a woman and he is not sure that he has what it takes, he will say as little as possible to try and raise his odds of winning the object of his desire, and doing this usually gives good odds.
When a man gets to the point of feeling comfortable and accepted by a woman, he will usually start opening up and give us a look into what has been going on in his head. As a rule, men do not make small talk, almost everything they say is relevant to what they have been thinking or feeling, so it’s a very good idea to start listening as soon as they start talking. Some of the most useful information a man will give a woman about himself, will be completely unsolicited and unexpected.
A few of the most commonly ignored or misunderstood things a man will tell a woman are:
1. “I don’t deserve you”. When a man says this to you, believe him, he would know better than anybody. Don’t try to fix him, or make it your mission to bring up his self esteem. He didn’t ask you for help, he just told you something you really needed to know.
2. “I can’t imagine being with only one person for the rest of my life”. This means he can’t imagine it, and if he can’t imagine it, he probably can’t do it.
3. “If I can’t have you, nobody can”. Don’t smile and hug him after he says this, take it as literal as a fire and get the hell out as fast as possible.
4. “Maybe it would be better if we saw other people”. Again, believe him. He just told you that he is not into you enough to do whatever it takes to make you happy.
