The concept of having a soul mate has become so well known and accepted, that it now defines some relationships and tears some apart. There is no hand book that explains exactly how to know if a person is your soul mate. What we do know is that the things that make a person someone’s soul mate will not mean the same thing coming from another.
What makes two people soul mates is the feeling that is experienced by both people, from the very moment they meet. It is a feeling that often goes hand in hand with the love they have for each other, but it’s not love. There are not too many people who can describe what the feeling is, or how it happens. But when it does happen there is no denying it.
Some people question the possibility that there could be any deeper connection than love. For those who have not experienced it, doubts surround the idea of having a spiritual bond with another person that reaches far into the soul of both people and connects them in a way that is not possible to achieve with other people.
When this type of relationship was first labeled and acknowledged, it was thought that a person could only have one soul mate. It was also thought possible that you could have a soul mate in the world, but not ever meet them.
Now that there is fuller awareness of this spiritual connection, people are realizing that it is possible to have more than one soul mate. And the depth that those connections reach can vary for each individual relationship.
Even though you can have more than one soul mate, you cannot choose to make any person you want, your soul mate. Your soul mate’s connection to you will be established well before you meet them. It is even possible to have a consciousness of them before you ever actually meet them; and to be acutely aware of that consciousness to the point of feeling your impending meeting drawing near.
Once you do meet your soul mate you will feel as though you have known them for a very long time. You cannot articulate how you’ve known them or what you know about them, but they are very familiar to you. There is never a period of awkwardness while you get to know each other, and trust for them is automatic.
Some people refuse to accept the validity of these relationships and put them in the category of the spiritual world and after life experiences. But the one thing that nobody can deny is the way we instinctually feel drawn to some people for no apparent reason. There are really no logical explanations for these reactions, except to say that maybe our souls are much bigger and older than we could ever imagine, and nobody knows them like our soul mate does.
